Trailer Security:

The key to trailer security is making yours the most difficult to steal. Trailers are being stolen to order; therefore it is important that your trailer is immobilised at all times.

Thiefbeaters

Since the compulsory introduction of Thiefbeaters in February 2002 theft incidents have dramatically reduced. Having struggled for 15 years to stem the number of thefts, we now believe we have the security right.

Thiefbeaters involves applying a unique comprehensive identification including electronic transponders and microdots to hidden and visible locations on the trailer. Each trailer is meticulously identified in up to 50 locations by various techniques and each location of the unique TB number is recorded. A record of the entire ID is kept along with six digital photographs. Furthermore, a registration document is produced complete with two colour photographs of each trailer they have identified. One copy of the registration document is provided to the owner and another to us.

With a 24 hour database service, any police force can make necessary enquiries. A prospective purchaser of a trailer with a Thiefbeaters marking can also enquire to ensure the trailer is not reported stolen prior to any purchase. We have been able to negotiate a discount of 30% on the cost of fitting Thiefbeaters, bringing the price including VAT down to £199.00.

Hitch-Locks The hitch-lock must be key operated and the key must have an unique key number. The hitch-lock must be manufactured to British Standard

Wheel-Clamps The wheel-clamp must be manufactured to British Standard Trailers with hydraulic suspension may be acceptable without a hitch-lock and/or wheel-clamp and should be referred to Mobilers on 0845 130 4555

Driveway Security Posts For trailers kept at home a 10% discount will be allowed for driveways protected with a security post .

TRACKER

(Stolen Vehicle Recovery System)
Stolen trailers are almost impossible to recover with the main problem being that they are notoriously difficult to secure and may often have to be left unattended for long periods. As a result, Mobilers recommend that trailers should be fitted with a stolen vehicle recovery system such as 'TRACKER' for complete peace of mind.

Tracking systems work via an electronic homing device which, when activated, emits a silent signal to dedicated equipment fitted in police cars and helicopters of every force in the UK.

There are two different versions available: TRACKER Retrieve where the owner discovers the theft and TRACKER Monitor which will alert TRACKER HQ directly of any unauthorised movement, allowing them to quickly contact the owner and begin tracing.

If the trailer is valued at £15,000 or more and theft cover is required, a TRACKER ‘RETRIEVE’ or TRACKER ‘MONITOR’ is compulsory.  If the trailer is valued at £25,000 or more and theft cover is required, a TRACKER ‘MONITOR’ is compulsory.  A discount of 25% is allowed on all trailer insurance premiums where one of these devices is fitted
