Towing the line:
TIP: Is
your current motor insurer giving you ‘third party towing liability’
for your catering trailer? You may be driving uninsured! |
Making sure you are fully insured when towing a catering trailer is really important
The Road Traffic Act stipulates that your motor insurance policy must
cover your legal liabilities in respect of personal injury and third
party property damage. Once a trailer is hitched to the towing vehicle
and taken onto the public highway, the motor insurance policy on the
towing vehicle must include damage and personal injury caused by the
trailer, when attached or when accidentally detached
Many mobile caterers do not realise their car or van insurance may not
be providing cover for towing a catering trailer. Many caterers assume
towing cover is included in their motor insurance and are driving
around uninsured
Our policies have been specifically designed to ensure that this most
important aspect is covered. If you are in any doubt about the
suitability of your current motor insurance, we are on hand to offer
advice and/or quotations without obligation. Please call us on 0845 130 4555 or email for further details
